FAQ
What does [P:10 M: 5 E: 8] mean in my friends Twitter and Facebook streams?
So you are probably wondering what are those values in your friend's Facebook or Twitter stream. Those are the Physical, Mental and Emotional mood indices of your friend shared with you through the Mood of the Nation website or iPhone application. So if you have seen the text: [P:10 M: 5 E: 8] it tells you that, on a scale of 1-10, where 1 is the lowest and 10 is the highest, your friend is in great physical health (10 out of 10), has an OK mental attitude (5 out of 10), and has a strong emotional status (8 out of 10). We suggest taking them for a coffee; that will accentuate their mental sharpness! I can't see my status updates in The Nation!? Why is that?
The Nation status updates are based on Twitter. In order to have your status updates applied to the The Nation stream, we need you to create and configure a Twitter account in the application. This will make sure that others can see what you are feeling and thinking!
Is Mood of the Nation related to Biorhythm?
Definitely not! A biorhythm is a hypothetical cycle in physiological, emotional, or intellectual well-being or prowess. "Bio-" pertains to life and "rhythm" pertains to the flow with regular movement. The theory has no more predictive power than chance, and has been labeled a pseudoscience by skeptics. Mood of the Nation data comes from real people, in real time and reflects their personal view of their physical health, mental attitude and emotional state. Mood of the Nation does not do any predictions - it provides fact-based trends calculated on an hourly basis.
How are the Mood of the Nation trends updated?
The Mood of the Nation collects the mood updates from all users who have registered for an account. Users with Mood of the Nation accounts may update their mood as often or infrequently as they like. The trend lines are re-calculated once every hour. The last update provided by each registered user is used in the calculation of the average. Registered users who do not update on a regular basis are excluded from current calculations over time.
How often are the Mood of the Nation trend charts refreshed?
The trends are displayed on charts which are refreshed once per hour. The trend data is also made available to other web applications via an open web API.
